Koreans, like Japanese, love cartoons. They are not just for the kids. My favourite cartoon is 'Four Daughters of Armian' by Sin Il Suk. The story is set in a country called Armian, a country which is ruled by queens, sacred daughters of the mythical phoenix. Armian is a country of the Moon and the queens are advised not to have a son as a son is supposed to bring the power of the Sun and therefore harmful to the country.

The first queen of Armian is the mythical phoneix and the princesses should go through a selection process. Only a princess with most gifted prophecy ability will be allowed to inherit the throne. The four heroines in this story all inherited that ability. But the conflict begins as two of them, the first born and last born, shared the fate of becoming a queen.

Interested? I can only say that it is a pity that she didn't write in English, thereby limiting her audience. It has a good plot, a considerable knowledge of mythology and ancient history and a great human drama. I cannot reveal more of the story but this page is about me. So you will excuse me and content that you tasted a bit of Korean cartoon.

I also would like to say something regarding my dog, Sherry. She seems to feel rather neglected since I started web design. I am still fascinated by it all and can become obsessive with my new toy. I have to thank her for her patience with her boring human friend. I will try to remember making time between my work. She needs to be assured and sometimes love is not enough. you have to show it.
